A Brush With Kindness

A Brush with Kindness is an exterior home preservation service that provides painting, landscaping, and minor repair services to low-income homeowners in need.
ABWK will serve as a companion to our core building program, enabling us to serve more families, expand our exposure within the community, increase opportunities for volunteers and develop our base of sponsors. ABWK revitalizes the appearance of neighborhoods, strengthens connections within the community, and helps preserve and create affordable housing stock.
Our pilot initiative of this program was during the Summer of 2011. A team of college-student interns launched our first effort to implement - setting a goal to serve 2-5 families. They successfully laid the foundation for future years to come. Admittedly, we learned many lessons, and we aim to have this program fully operational by the Summer of 2012.
Just like ALL efforts at Plainfield Habitat, we depend upon volunteers like you. If you're interested in overseeing a ABWK project in the near future, contact our office to schedule a conversation with the Executive Director. Campus student groups, church men's groups, and corporate teams are prime candidates to engage with ABWK and to impact a needy family.
