Our Mission...
Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.
What We Do...
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, we build new homes and rehabilitate older houses in partnership with families in need.
This is not a give-away program. In addition to monthly mortgage payments, each homeowner family invests hundreds of hours of their own labor, called "sweat equity,” into the building of their house and the houses of others.
Why We Do It...
Because everyone deserves a decent place to raise their children. We help low-income working families to buy a modest, affordable home with no profit included in the sale price and no interest is charged on the mortgage.
How We Do It...
Volunteers from all walks of life —both skilled and unskilled— work on construction with partner families. Our volunteers come as individuals or with groups from schools, churches, unions or businesses in our community. Homeowners and volunteers build under trained supervision. Businesses and professionals donate materials and services. Individuals, corporations, faith groups and others provide vital financial support. Learn more about Habitat's stewardship of these resources by joining our community.
